Fiddler on the Roof is a musical set in Russia in 1905. The story centers on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his family and religious traditions while influences from the outside world affect their lives. He struggles with the choices of his three older daughters' choice of husbands. Each daughter's choice of husband moves farther away from the customs of her faith. The family also has to deal with the edict of the Tsar that evicts the Jews from their village.
