Morning’s at Seven

by Paul Osborn

May 7-10, 1998

Directed by Dan Landes

Morning's at Seven was originally produced on Broadway under the title Summer Solstice in 1939. Initially Paul Osborn's play was not well received and it closed shortly after it opened. However the play was released under its new title in 1953 and it enjoyed a two year run. More recently in 1980, the play was revived again on Broadway where it received high critical acclaim.

Morning's at Seven, reveals a tenderness about what it is like to grow old and what it is like to hold on to secrets that may only seem important to a small circle of family and friends. The Swanson's, the Bolton's, and the other oddball characters in this play should remind many of us of the friends and relatives we all have in our lives that exhibit the idiosyncrasies that seemingly appear in people in almost every small town in America.
